May 12 – Update

Many behind the scenes updates… Yes the site looks much the same with the exception of a few updated graphics. Behind the scenes, we have been busy updating, doing SEO, and lots and lots of online promotional work. If you are a fan or a past of future participant, please share us online, like us on FaceBook, follow us on Twitter or Tumblr or mention us on your blog. You can also download out poster and ask to put it up in your school, local video or camera store, even on a telephone pole somewhere where horror movie fans will see it, (make sure it is a legal place)!

We are hoping to make the Second Annual Ten Scary Minutes – the online horror movie making contest, bigger than last year! We had 18 entries in 2013 and are hoping to see more from other countries! If you have a smartphone, a good imagination and some friends to help – then make the movie! Our movie contest is intended for all horror fans of all production abilities!

It can be your first or 101st production – we encourage you to create and share! Looking forward to seeing your movies!

’till next time, no nightmares!

Rick

“The Conjuring” a very good scare!

Well I must admit, this movie did scare me and almost had me scream like a little girl! They did an awesome job of building suspense, drawing you in with little jumps, then bang! And the audience screams! Awesome! I left with a great adrenaline high and a thought of not ever wanting to play with antique music boxes.

Looking for ideas and tips for creating your own scary movie? This one did a great job of using suspense with minimal props and special effects.

Until next time, “no nightmares!”

Thank you!

Special thanks to Alex, (iQuid.com), our programing mastermind for creating a quick and easy contest entry process and online form with an easy way to manage and show entries!

The official website is now fully functional and able to accept entries! The way this will work is, once you have created you horror video, go to www.vimeo.com and set up and account. Then, upload your video and if you have created one, your movie poster. Provide a brief synopsis of your video and then save. Next, in Vimeo, select the embed code option and copy the embed code generated, then go to www.tenscaryminutes.com, select the Entry Form tab, fill out the form and copy your horror video embed code into the appropriate field and submit.

We will review your movie and post it in the site and send you an email notification. if your movie is rejected, we will also notify you by email and explain why. Good lucy and we look forward to your submissions for the Calgary’s first TenScaryMinutes horror video contest.
